Project
Allanblackia parviflora is a tree species native to many African countries. Seeds of the Allanblackia tree produce high quality oil for application in food and non-food products.
Unilever developed an innovative partnership program to upscale oil production through agroforestry farming in, amongst others, Ghana.
Our role
Form International established and manages a pilot farm (67 ha) in Ghana, including R&D on plant production and agroforestry systems, business modelling, intercropping with cocoa, monitoring and advice for further up-scaling, including business plan development and financial modelling.
Furthermore, Form International assisted Unilever in the development of a harmonised monitoring methodology for growth and performance of field planted Allanblackia in Tanzania, Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria.
Results
- Establishment and management of a pilot farm (67 ha)
- Further insight in the growth and development of planted Allanblackia
- Development of harmonized monitoring methodology for growth and performance of field planted Allanblackia
